Well thats different...

So we've been here for 2 days now. Its been a couple days of wandering around mostly. We're just trying to take in as much as possible in a short amount of time. We've been through the Central Business District (CBD) and out to St Kilda where we may end up living. We've been at a hostel for the last 2 nights, it was pretty nice. Carly has more experience than I do with hostels so she has more to compare it to but all in all it served its purpose just fine. It has a fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal, except the food of course. Our room was pretty small but we were only using it as a place to sleep so it worked too.

My first impressions of Melbourne can basically be summed up as its the same...but different. There are many things that are very familiar, for example, I was watching a live Yankees Red Sox game this morning during breakfast and there are McDonald's everywhere. But then you look around and people are driving on the right side of the road and talking different and you realize you're half a world away from home.

Getting around has been pretty cool. Melbourne has a pretty extensive tram service and they go all over the place and come by frequently. Yesterday was a bit of an adventure getting to St Kilda because it was ANZAC Day here, basically the Australian Memorial Day. So the tram we wanted wasn't running where we needed to go but there was a man at the stop we got off at helping people find alternate routes.

We're at the library right now since they have free internet and we wanted to get everything caught up since we've been out of contact for a couple days. Its very nice in here, almost like a museum.

Tomorrow hopefully we'll get our phones set up and choose a bank and then it'll be job hunting and house hunting for a few days I'm sure. Carly is working on getting the pictures from the Spheres posted as well as our travel pictures and the few we've taken since we've been here. We've definitely cut back on the picture taking from last week, but we'll have more soon!
